Stephen J. Anderer, J.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Anderer received his B.A. degree from Yale University, his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from MCP/Hahnemann University (now Drexel University). Dr. Anderer’s particular areas of concentration include divorce, equitable distribution, alimony, premarital agreements, child support, child custody, civil competency, psychological and neuropsychological damages, civil commitment, duty-to-warn and licensing complaints against mental health professionals. His pro bono efforts include representation of children in abuse, neglect and child custody matters and mental health issues in death penalty cases. He writes and speaks frequently on issues involving psychology and law (particularly family law) and has organized numerous conferences designed to bring together judges, lawyers and mental health professionals. Dr. Anderer’s writings include a monograph, Determining Competency in Guardianship Proceedings, prepared for the American Bar Association and a book he co-authored for the American Psychological Association, Law for Mental Health Professionals: Pennsylvania. He also is the co-author of the 2000 Supplement to Coping with Psychiatric and Psychological Testimony and contributed chapters on civil competency and child custody evaluations to the sixth edition to be published by Oxford University Press in 2011. He is AV-rated by Martindale Hubble and listed in Best Lawyers in America and Philadelphia’s Best Lawyers. He competes in Olympic distance triathlons.
